With a belief in the transformative impact of spending time outdoors, Butler Parklands was founded in 2005 to promote aerobic recreation, encourage meaningful connections to the outdoors, and create passionate stewards of the natural world.

Across its eight parks, Butler Parklands illuminates the rich natural and cultural history of each setting, and thoughtfully designs low impact, high caliber infrastructure.

From New York, Maine and South Carolina, to Chile, Argentina and Uruguay, Butler Parklands builds and operates parks in partnership with local organizations. Together they preserve stunning landscapes and enable more Americans, young and old, to experience the awe of nature’s power.

Black River Environmental Improvement Association 

Set in the foothills of the Adirondack Mountains, Black River Environmental Improvement Association is a window into upstate New York’s breathtaking diversity of terrain.

Black River Cypress Preserve 

Joining 30,000 protected acres along one of South Carolina’s most exotic rivers, Black River Cypress Preserve is the finest semitropical park in the northern hemisphere.

Penobscot River Trails 

On Maine’s Penobscot River Trails, visitors can experience the same magnificent riverscape that inspired the writings of Henry David Thoreau.

Cobscook Shores 

Cobscook Bay in DownEast Maine is a spectacular natural gem, boasting a 40-square-mile tidal sea with the most extreme tides in the continental U.S.

The Seboeis Riverside Trail is 7.2 miles long and follows the Seboeis River through the dense pinewoods of the Maine Highlands and past mountain views. It’s not too far east of Baxter State Park’s north entrance and Mt. Kahtadin. Also, the path cuts through part of Katahdin Woods and Waters National Monument, offering a picturesque escape whether you’re hiking in the summer or snowshoeing in the winter.
